Code Access Foundation exists to ensure that every student has a real opportunity to learn computer science, regardless of background or resources. Access to technology and technical education should not be determined by zip code, school funding, or personal circumstances. Yet for many students, it still is.

We focus on closing that gap by providing the tools, materials, and support needed to participate in modern computer science education. This includes access to devices, software, and learning resources, as well as support for schools and educators working to expand their programs.

Our Mission

To expand access to computer science education by equipping students and schools with the resources they need to learn, build, and succeed.

What We Do

We work directly with students, schools, and educators to remove barriers that prevent participation in computer science. Our efforts are focused on practical, high-impact support:

  • Providing computer science materials and equipment to students who need them
  • Supporting schools and teachers with resources to strengthen CS programs
  • Expanding access to software, platforms, and learning tools
  • Reducing financial barriers to participation in courses, exams, and certifications

We prioritize initiatives that are scalable, measurable, and directly tied to student outcomes.

Who We Serve

We support students who do not have reliable access to the resources required for computer science education. This includes students in under-resourced schools, communities with limited technology access, and individuals facing financial barriers to participation.

We also partner with educators and schools that are actively working to expand or improve their computer science offerings.

Why This Matters

Computer science is no longer optional. It is a foundational skill set that shapes access to higher education, career opportunities, and economic mobility.

Students without access to these resources are not just missing a class. They are missing exposure to an entire category of opportunity.

Closing this gap is not just about technology. It is about fairness, access, and long-term outcomes.

Our Approach

We focus on delivering resources in ways that are practical, accountable, and easy for schools and students to use. Our approach is guided by three principles:

  • Access first: Prioritize removing immediate barriers to participation
  • Simplicity: Provide solutions that are easy to adopt and implement
  • Impact: Measure success based on real student outcomes, not activity

Looking Ahead

Code Access Foundation is focused on building sustainable programs that can grow over time while maintaining a high standard of impact and accountability. We are committed to working with partners who share the belief that access to computer science education should be universal, not selective.
